Up until a few weeks ago we had 3 kids in one room, meaning 2 beds, 1 crib, 4 dressers and a desk in 1 room. There was hardly any room for them to walk around let alone play. So when we found out a local furniture was having a close out sale we went to check it out. What a great change having them is. Seriously I do not know why we did not just get them when we moved here. Not only does it free up space but now there is only 1 bed for them to hide toys under lol.
We did a lot of discussing before we went to pick out the bunk beds, because with 3 kids and one being a toddler there are a lot of things we need to worry about, especially since our youngest is a climber. We had to pick weather we were going to have Metal Bunk beds or wooden bunk beds. Metal bunks would be a lot easier then wood but then there is the worry of the wear and tear with three kids as to how well they are actually going to stand up so with metal I was a bit unsure of the stability of them. So after looking we found a nice solid wooden bunk bed set that I love!
I think that even when we have our kids in their own rooms again we may be looking at putting loft beds in the kids rooms just to free up space. I found this American Young Loft bed that would be really great to free up space. I would be able put the kids desk under it and free up the space so they have more room to play and have a more open space for the room.
If brand new bunks beds is not something in your budget places like craigslist and freecycle are great places to look. Bunkbeds really are a great way to free up space in your kids rooms, especially if you have more then one kid in a bedroom.
Do you have bunkbeds for your kids?
