I saw a comment that someone made on facebook about how a parent was S**** parent because they brought a kid to see a movie that was Rated R. (The movie in case you were wondering was the new Batman Movie) It caused a complete uproar on facebook on how these parents were crappy parents because they took their child to see the movie. Now I would not take my kids to see an R rated movie, but that is my choice but that being said my kids do watch Law and Order with me. I have seen just about every episode so I know which ones are ok for my kids to watch (in my opinion) and I don’t let them watch the ones with nudity, but that is my choice to let them watch it as their mom.
My kids ride in 5 point harnass carseats because it is MY choice, do I think that someone who has their 40 pound kid in a boosted is a bad parent, no that is their choice (and trust me I have friends who do not have the same car seat stand point that I do and they are amazing parents)
Am I a bad parent because I let my kids have left over pizza for breakfast? I don’t think so but I am sure others have their pwn opinions on that one too, but they are my kids and I make the choices for them.
Some people spank their children and some use a time out chair, does either one classify as a bad parent because of their choice? No.
I don’t always enforce bedtime, and let my kids stay up late (they stayed up till 11 the other night) does that make me a bad parent?
Now if someone is beating, abusing or starving their child then yes that is a bad parent because they are harming their children.
As parents it is our choice on how to parent and just because some one does things differently then you do does not make you a bad parent nor does it make them a bad parent.
All I am saying really is that as a parent we all pick and choose how to parent and no one parents the same, but just because you do not agree with someone and how they parent doesn’t mean that they are bad parents.
