This week hubby took a trip to the local Acme and went through the self check out lane and did the whole paying and then just putting the change in his wallet and walking out the store (he is not one to dilly dalley around in the store) and when he went to get gas he found a $100 bill in his wallet mixed in with the $1 bills that he had gotten back as his change at Acme which he knew he never had a $100 bill in his wallet earlier. He headed back to Acme and told them about it and they thanked him and even offered for him to keep the money because he was honest and he told them no just give me the $1 bill I was supposed to get and we are good the store did not think that was enough and gave him a $20 gift card as a thank you.
You may be wondering why I am even sharing this with you but I had to because I know so many of us are in tight situations where a $100 bill could go a long way and help us out greatly but I am a firm believer in if you do good then good comes to you too. I try hard to make my kids know the value of being honest and even when what they should be telling me could get them in trouble they know they will be in less trouble if they are honest from the get go. I just wanted to share this because while the $100 would be a nice extra $100 in our pockets in return for hubby doing the right thing the store gave him a gift card (even though he told them no he didn’t need it) and they thanked him and he felt good about doing it.
There are many times in life when we are challenged with doing the honest thing and sometimes doing the unhonest thing would help us right then and there but it is good to stay on the honest path because as I said before I am a firm believer that when you do good things that good things happen to you:)
Have you ever had anything like what happened to hubby happen to you?
