This makes me very sad but starting in August the United States Postal Service will stop having mail delivery on Saturdays. This is to cut back on their spending but it makes me very sad because people are going to be with out jobs, have less hours and now we will no longer get mail on the weekends.
This will mean that if you have a post office box you will still get your mail in your po box on saturday but there will be no home delivery on Saturdays any longer. You will still continue to get packages delivered to your home that are sent via USPS but not your regular mail.
You can still go to your post office to have things mailed out if your post office is currently open on Saturdays, that will not change.
These changes are because there is not enough income being generated from people mailing letters. The USPS does not get any tax dollars and runs on the income it generates from the sale of products, postage and services.
The changes will be in affect by August 1.
I can not say that I am to surprised while I am sad, because I can not tell you the last time I sent anyone a letter. The world of technology has made it so i do most of my communication via, internet with email and facebook and phone (calls and texts). I am thinking maybe we should all start mailing out more letters, not just our bills if we want to see the Saturday delivery come back again.
How do you feel about these changes?
