I was super excited when I got the e-mail that Safe Haven was already coming to DVD, I saw this movie in theaters and LOVED it and was waiting for it to come out to have Tom watch it with me. When I got the e-mail to review it I immediately said yes, no questions asked. This movie is a great movie for an at home date night with snuggling on the couch.
We meet Katie, a lady who is on the run from her past that we only know about because of flashbacks and a few conversations that she has with people. She moved to Southport with just about nothing to start over and escape her abusive cop husband. Upon moving there she meets Alex and his 2 kids who after a bit of time she and the three of them form a connection. She also meets Jo, a woman who lives in the house near her, which they both live on an empty street far from the main part of town, who gives her little hints about Alex. Jo is a bit mysterious in some ways as she knows an awful lot about Alex and his kids but you are just not completely sure why until the end. With a bond forming with the people of the town and getting comfortable in her new home, she is forced to confront her secret past when her abusive husband shows up in town. Through out the story we aren’t sure exactly why she is running away, the flashbacks give us some idea but they don’t reveal the whole story.
