The new Star Wars: Force Awakens movie comes to theaters on December 18th and like many people we are counting down the days. I attended the press screening of the movie and then Tom and I are going to see it for our anniversary and then this weekend we are going with the kids and my parents for my dad’s birthday. I can not wait. I am glad I got to attend the press screening because I can give you a little bit of inside information. I am not going to tell you about the movie, giveaway plot points or any secrets, because it is Star Wars. The secrets make the movie and are important when viewing it. However with kids there are things you want to make sure they know before you take them to see it. I would suggest watching Episodes IV, V and VI but if you do not have the time to do so before seeing the movie make sure your kids know the following before going to the movie. It will help them with understanding the movie and different things that happen in the movie.
Yes most of these things are things that those of us who have been watching the Star Wars movies for as long as we can remember know already, but for the kids who might not be 100% up on the facts I wanted to make sure you were able to give your kids the information they need to know so they are not asking you 100 questions during the movie for who is who 🙂
Things Kids need To Know before Seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- Darth Vader is Luke and Leia’s father.
- Luke and Leia are twins.
- The Death Star is the moon-shaped battle space station where Darth Vader could be found. Luke Skywalker blew it up.
- The Millennium Falcon was originally the ship that Han Solo and Chewbacca flew in.
- R2D2 and C3P0 were Luke Skywalker’s Droids
You can see my full review here but for those bringing kiddos to the movie I wanted to make sure that when you went you didn’t have any confused kiddos while they were watching the movie 🙂
