Veggies are soooo much cheaper when you pick them yourself! So I took the kids to go pick veggies and fruit on Monday. Not only were we saving money but the kids LOVED it! Which was good because originally we had planned on blueberry picking but the heatwave that just came threw killed most of the blueberries around here, thankfully the farm we went to had pints of blueberries even though we could not pick them our selves.
Our total was 16.00 I used a 10.00 WIC Farmers Market Check and my total was 6.00.
4 pounds Blackberries
2 Large Cucumbers
3 pounds tomatoes
3 Pints Blueberries
I really love fresh picked fruits and veggies and so does my family!
Monday night we had Grilled Chicken and Avacado Mayo Sandwiches, Cucumber salad and I made blackberry cobbler for dessert on monday night and I wish I had taken a picture because it was soooo good! Next time I make it I will post a picture and the recipe.
And last night we had enchiladas and we used the tomatoes to make salsa last night.
The Salsa I make is not really fancy but it is really simple to make and my family loves it.
3 Large tomatoes
1/2 white onion
garlic powder to taste
I throw the onion and the tomatoes into the food processor and turn it on. then stir in the garlic powder.
I had to send hubby to the store the other night for a quick few things and this was a great reminder for him as to why we use coupons!
