So this post is mainly geared toward all the male readers and some of the ladies may find this post a bit funny but while looking for a deal on a gift for a holiday you also have to remember who you are buying for and what holiday it is and what the person enjoys.
What NOT to buy your wife for Mother’s Day
A Vacuum- While a great deal on a vacuum especially one like a Dyson may seem like a great gift it really is not. Unless you want your wife to see it as you want her to clean the house more I would not suggest you buying one for Mother’s Day.
A Treadmill- Yes she may want one, but I can guarantee you she probably does not want it for Mother’s Day.
Tools- You may like them and she maybe into working on things with you but tools are not a way to show her how good of a Mom she is
Underwear- Unless you are getting her a gift card to Victoria’s Secret so she can spoil herself on a shopping trip with out taking the kiddos this could get you in trouble
Lingerie- I won’t og into this one much, but I am sure we all know why this is not a good gift for Mother’s Day
A napkin or scrap piece of paper that says Happy Mother’s Day- this one is an obvious one lol
Washer and Dryer- We do not want Mom to think she needs to do more laundry, even if she has been asking for a new set for years this is not the holiday to buy such a gift.
A cookbook- This may make mom think she needs to learn to cook, unless it is one that she has asked for specifically by title
Dinner out at your favorite restaurant- Dinner out is a good thing, but make sure it is at a place that she really likes
Carpet Cleaner- Again anything that has to do with cleaning is probably not going to be the biggest hit Mother’s Day gift
Droopy, unfresh flowers- Make sure your flowers are at their peak, you would be much better off getting a small bouquet that is still alive and beautiful then a huge one that had dead or almost dead flowers.
and lastly an I OWE YOU!- I got one of these and guess what it is still and I OWE YOU! Time gets in the way and it never happens (he bought a hand print kit a few years ago and planned on doing it with the kids after the holiday and well needless to sauy it didn’t happen and we have no idea where the kit went) This is NOT a way to make Mom feel like she is thought of.
When thinking about what to buy Mom for Mother’s Day think about what SHE really wants, not the stuff she has said would make her life easier, like a new washer and dryer or carpet cleaner. Make sure the gift you pick out for her has meaning to her. Not all meaningful gifts will cost a lot of money, and some do not cost much at all. But it is the meaningful thoughtful creative gifts that show mom how much you care. If you are at a loss have the kiddos make something, seriously the best gifts I have received have been handmade from my kids.
