One thing I like to do every few months is go thru the bills and make sure they are correct and that I am not paying for things I don’t actually use.
It is also important to go thru your bills and see if there is anything that you are paying for that you don’t remember. Things like magazines that you don’t actually read that you are paying the subscription for are things you do not want to be wasting your money on.
Sometimes things are added to the bills that I don’t know about. Other times the prices of the service go up and I don’t realize it. Hey, we are all busy and many of us just login and pay the amount due with out looking at the bill break down because we are so rushed on time. That is why every few months it is important to go thru your bills and the breakdown to see what is what.
I go through bills like cable and internet and see what fees are on the bill, sometimes there can be hidden fees that are over looked. If you find them call the company and ask what they are if it is not something you put on the bill have them take it off.Other times while going thru them I realize that I am paying for something that we are not using, so I call them and I have it removed.
This is also very important when it comes to medical bills. I don’t know if any of you have looked at your medical bills when they come in but many times I have found things that were never used on my bill. For example when I had my youngest the bill had a charge for pain meds, well I never used pain meds. I found out that they had pulled pain meds for me incase I needed them and so they put them on the bill, but I never actually had pain meds so that is something they shouldn’t have charged me for.
How to Save Money on your Bills
After going thru all of your bills you can then make changes to the bills you already have and end up saving money.
Ask For Deals:
You can call companies like the cable company and ask them if they are having any deals on other plans that you can switch to that are for the same services you have, but are cheaper. I have called the cable company and asked if they had any deals, and while I didn’t get my bill lowered every time, quite a few times they threw in some extra services for free, like added channels with out my bill going up.
Keep an eye out for new service plans:
Many times I have found the companies I use come out with plans that are cheaper then what I am paying and I get more with it. So then I change my plan, to the better one. They don’t tell you about the new plan that is cheaper, but if you keep your eye out for them you can save money on the services you already have.
Look at other companies:
Sometime we get complacent when it comes to our bills, we are used to the same company that we have had forever. But if we shop around every so often we can often find the same services with a different company for cheaper.
