Hannah might not have made me a new Mom since she is baby number 4 but in a way having her was like a new mom expierence. So many things have changed over the years that I may as well have been a “new mom”. There are so many things on the market that are marketed as a “need” that really do not help out a mom at all, other then taking over the house. However there are many things that are needed and will help make life with a new baby easier. When you are shopping for new mom gifts it can also be a struggle to figure out what to buy as a gift and what is not needed. So far with Hannah there have been a few things that are now items I will make sure all of my friends who have babies from here on out make sure they have.
5 Things I Can’t Live without As a “New Mom”
Infant Swing : Babies like to be rocked, they are used to the movement from when they are inside the womb and it doesn’t stop once they are born. The swing has been a life saver for us, we have the Graco Duet Oasis Swing & Rocker and it is one that I would recommend to anyone. Not only is it a swing but you can remove the swing seat from the base and it is a rocker.
Pack n Play: For baby products I like things that have multiple uses, it means less items in the house which also means less cost as well. We have the Graco Playard with Soothe Surround Technology. When baby is an infant it is used as a napper and changing table and then as baby grows used as a bassinet and then as a play area. Plus it is portable so you can easily pack it up and bring it with you when you travel.
Highchair: My choice for a highchair is the Chicco Polly Highchair. Not only is it a highchair that is for when they are babies and just learning to eat, but it will grow with baby and changes into a booster seat for a toddler as well. It folds up to be super slim for when it is not in use as well.
Baby Carrier: I was an Ergo Baby carrier for a very long time, I had one with Alyssa and used it all the time after I got it when she was about 9 months old. Then with Hannah I needed one that was for infants and I got the infant carrier insert for the Ergo and was not a fan. Then I found the Tula. Life changing, it was just as easy to use as the Ergo carrier but the infant insert for the Tula is AMAZING!
Infant Car Seat with High Weight Limit: I love my Britax B-Ready car seat. It goes up to 35 pounds and that means I can easily keep Hannah rear facing for a long time. I am aiming to keep her rear facing until she is at least 2 years old.
Being a new mom, even if you have kids already can be tough, especially with how many choices there are for things. It can really make a mom struggle when getting the needed items!
