I love food. I don’t try to keep that a secret. I try to keep healthy food in our house, but I have three small children who would love nothing more than to eat hot dogs and macaroni and cheese for every meal of the day, and they rarely appreciate my attampts at gourmet perfection. Organic foods can be expensive, not always tasty, and (depending on how they define the word) not even organic. So how do you sort thru the muck to find good tasting food that’s good for you, your kids and your pocketbook? Enter Amy’s Kitchen. I’m not going to pretend they are cheap, because they are prepackaged and microwavable, which is never cheaper than picking up something you can make from scratch. But if you’re looking for something quick, these meals are the middle ground on the frozen aisle (not the cheapest or the most expensive), but they will blow anything else you eat on that aisle out of the water! We tried three different products here at my house:Everything was so tasty (even my kids ate the pizza!) and best of all there’s no additives, no preservatives, no GMOs. The fruits and vegetables are grown organically and cooked like you’d make them at home. Everything on the ingredients list is instantly recognizable…there’s no hyrochlorizabetine or phosphaterides (I know those are not real words, but you get what I mean!). I have often looked at an ingredient list to something I really liked (to see if I could make something like it myself) only to find there’s nothing natural or replicable in there at all! And they are vegetarian. Now, I am not a vegetarian, but I very often enjoy a completely vegetarian meal – again, I love food. I love tofu and soy just as much as I love steak and chicken. But the great thing about these meals is that you probably won’t even notice they’re vegetarian (if you are not adventurous, however I would stay away from the Indian meals they make…they were a little odd tasting even for me, but I’ve never particularly cared for Indian food).
They have alot of choices, and they’ve even started making kid’s meals! Definetly give these a try if you’re looking for something quick and easy to make!
