After the past few weeks of planning, collecting donations and shopping for supplies the day we have been planning is here! There are still a few bags left to finish up, but the majority is done(our count right now is at 257 bags of school supplies total, I will be sharing with you all about the event and how it turns out and will let you know what our final total ends up being).
Thousands of pencils and pens, hundreds of folders, notebooks, glue, rulers, crayons, markers, colored pencils and more are now in their bags ready to be handed to so many kids in the area who will now have a great start to their school year! With the help of very generous stores, companies and readers this event is going to be amazing! Not only will kids be getting bags of school supplies but one lucky child will go home with a brand new printer from Epson and one will go home with a brand new lunch box and all the goods for packing lunch!
We have had school supplies all over the house, which just looking at them the past few weeks as the pile grew from 25 notebooks to over 500 notebooks, I was touched that people would be helping me help make a difference in my community. My kids, hubby and dad have been helping me fill all the bags with supplies and they have been all so awesome doing it:)
As I said before, TODAY is the day and I am soooo excited! I can not wait to help these kids so that they have an AWESOME school year because they are starting it out right by being prepared! I can not wait to share with you the pictures and and how much fun I can tell this event is going to be this afternoon! But I do have one thing to ask of you all, pray, cross your fingers and toes or whatever it is that you do that the rain from Hurricane Irene holds off until we have handed out every bag we have:)
If you are local and you are in need of help with school supplies for your kids, come on by Dansbury Park @ 4PM!! We can’t wait to see you there!
I can not thank everyone who helped make this possible, and I want you all to know that your hearts are HUGE and your generosity is AMAZING!
The generosity of my local Office Max and the awesomeness of their staff touched my heart every time I walked in to buy more supplies (which happened to be just about every day the past few weeks that they saw me). Their willingness to help make this possible, they donated bags to put the supplies in and let me come in everyday to buy the sale items. I could not have asked for a more supportive local business.
With gift card donations from my local Weis, ShopRite and BJ’s I was able to get in on their great back to school deals to help with our need of supplies.
We received a cash donation from Surge Suppression of Georgia, which helped fund much of our shopping trips.
Epson for donating a printer
We have some fabulous readers here at Luxury Living Frugal Style, and some of which are local who took the time to buy supplies to donate and those that donated cash.
