Well many times people ask me about my couponing when I am in the store(many time in the aisle with my stacks of coupons or at the check out line) and well I am a couponer I am also a Mom (to 3 amazing children) and the funny things that have been said by my kids about my coupons crack me up. I am sure that if you are a mom that coupons your kids have some funny things to say about it. here are just a few things in the past week that I thought I would share with you.

While Making lunch this week:
Princess Pretty Pants -“Mom can you please buy white bread I am tired of wheat”
Little Man- “Mommy printed the coupons and that is what it was for so that is what she bought”
Princess Pretty Pants- “Since you can’t print the coupons for white bread can you e-mail the company and tell them I really like white bread but there are no Coupons for it so you won’t buy it?”
When I got home from JC Penny with new socks for the kids, the boys socks and the girls socks were exactly the same look but the boys were $2 more for the same amount of socks so I bought the girls socks for the kids, they were white socks and no difference)
Little Man “Mom why are my socks in a purple package? Were they on sale? Did you have a coupon too?”
Me- “yes they were on sale, yes I used a coupon, and they are white socks the package color doesn’t matter”
Little Man “Next time can you take them out of the package before you give them to me so I don’t know they are girls socks?”
Me “Sure, will it make you feel better if I do that?”
Little Man- Yes just a little
There have also been times when at the check out someone will see my stack of coupons and ask “Are you a couponer?” (Obvious answer when I am holding a stack of them” and it cracks me up every time when one of my kids answers with “Don’t you see the coupons? Don’t you use coupons?
Although I think the one that takes the cake for responses was when one lady told my kids she did not have time to coupon because she had to work and my 6 year old told her “My mommy works, is a mommy, plays with us, cooks and coupons because that is what a smart Mommy does, Why don’t you have time if you just work?”, the lady had no response and I left it with “out of the mouths of babes” lol.
There have been many times that while shopping one will ask for something and the other will ask me if I have a coupon and if I say no tell the other, Mommy doesn’t have a coupon so she is not buying it. I am happy to be teaching my kids the value of a dollar and along with that they are learning that it is ok to wait for things that they want, which teaches them patience.
What are some of the funny things your kids have said about your couponing? How do your kids react to your couponing?
Love it! It makes you proud doesn’t it! Recently, when the $5 Transformer coupons were available, my son bargained that if he got good conduct marks I’d let him buy one w/ his piggy bank money.
When I pulled into the school pick-up line on his ‘big day’ it was impossible not to notice him. He was the 2nd grader flailing his arm in the air w/ the coupon! I had no idea he had sneaked into my binder that morning. I could hear him many cars back telling everyone his mom couponed and their mom’s should too so they could all get cool toys. The teachers were pretty impressed too, he was explaining basic math to all that would listen. LOL.
lol That’s too funny, especially about the socks. My kids like to call me a freak because of my couponing but then I ask them if they’d like to start paying for groceries and stuff and they clam right up!
