I am a big fan of letting kids play, they learn so much from just playing. Whenever I looked at a Preschool for my children the important thing for me was how much playtime would they have. I didn’t want one that was fully focused on educational sit down work, I wanted one that understood and taught the learning that play gives to children. I also continued learning with play at home, we played all the time when they kids were babies and toddlers before they hit school age. I try hard to continue that now with my kids, but at times my older ones totally thinking playing with mom is uncool, but we still put a lot of focus on them playing now, even if it is without me and it is just the 3 of them playing together.
Did you know that play enhances early childhood development by 34%, improving language skills and a child’s social, emotional and physical well-being!?!
Those are important things that a kid needs! I am sure you have heard your kids playing Barbie’s or dolls and talking to them or making them talk to each other just like mine do!If you have kids who are Lego loving fans like my son build them and after he is done he is so happy to have it put together and so proud of himself, you know that feeling of seeing them in that experience as well.
Could you imagine your kids not having those experiences, with their dolls or Legos or any toys for that matter? Unfortunately, many of the more than 15.5 million U.S. children living in poverty today are missing out on quality playtime because of limited family resources or knowledge about the importance of play.
But you and I can help those kids, and those families! Now through April 17, you can make a donation at your local store or online to support Save the Children’s early childhood development programs and bring learning through play to kids in need across the country. I am so excited about this because donations will support Save the Children’s early childhood development programs, which help children in some of America’s most underprivileged areas thrive!!!
One of the things I teach my kids is how important it is to help others and with this campaign I am excited because we are helping our future, children are our future and even if they are not our children, they are part of the future of the world and we all want the best for our children, and that includes the future that our children will live in.
