Being homeowners is a lot different then Tom and I imagined it was going to be. Yes of course there are the good things like being able to paint the rooms how I want to, change out different fixtures in the bathrooms to ones that I like, and make the house totally ours with our style, which we could not do when we were renting before. However there are many other things that we did not think about when we were doing the home buying process. Of course we knew that we would have to be the ones to stay on top of the maintenance of the house, we would be the one who would have to call a plumber when a pipe burst (which we had fun with that this week when a pipe in the garage burst).
Things like knowing the schedule of when things need to be checked, or cleaned out is all new to us and it is a learning process to say the least. They have an awesome tool that makes it so you know when and what you need to do in the manner of house maintenance. This is a lifesaver for anyone who is new to owning a home like we are and are completely lost on what needs to be done and are learning as we go.
When you sign up for HomeZada you enter all your home information (which is super easy to do!) and then it pulls up things that you need to do in a check list format. They also include the dates that you need to make sure you do them in order to keep your house in tip top shape! I love that it even has things like steam cleaning the carpets along with checking the water valves, they really have thought of everything that is needed in a house and will make it so your house is kept up, you don’t miss doing something important and it will keep your sanity!
With a new to us house we are working on making it our own, we have project lists a mile long of things we want to do and just making the lists can be overwhelming. HomeZada has an awesome tool where you can plan your projects. You can make a wishlist so you have everything you are wanting to do in one place and then as you complete them you can mark them off. It is a great way to stay organized with your projects and see where you are with your goal and they have a budgeting tool that helps you stick in your budget!
If staying on top of your maintenance and projects didn’t make this awesome enough they even have an inventory section that you keep track of the belongings you have and it is set by room. This makes figuring out how much your belongings are worth when you are making sure you have enough insurance to cover it if something were to happen to your house. It is not something that you want to talk about but you have to keep it in mind because no matter how careful you are things can happen. But you will have a detailed list of everything in your house, which will come in handy in case you need to file and insurance claim.
How awesome is that?!?! Everything you need for your home in one place! Plus if you are getting ready to sell your house, you can use the HomeZada information when figuring out how much to sell it for and when you sell the house you can transfer the information to the new owner!
For us this is going to be what makes homeowner ship not so scary, and its only $6 a month to give us peace of mind, keeping our sanity and not making a giant mess of our house that will be costly later.
