Saving money is HARD, I know first hand just how hard it can be to pull a few extra bucks from a paycheck to make ends meet and stretch is much as I can. It is what led my family to couponing and stockpiling over 5 years ago and when hubby had the 2 years with no job it was the stock pile that saved us. With hubby having no job it also meant that bills had to be paid with unemployment and with the savings that we had. It has only been since May 2012 that hubby has been back to work and now our goal is get our savings account back to where it was. It will be tricky even with him working again because this job pays less then when he was in the military and we recently moved so he would not have a 2 hour drive to work but with that move came a more expensive rental payment. So my goal for 2013 is to get $1000 in the savings account by doing a little bit each week for the next 52 weeks!
Each week I am going to put $20 into our savings account (I save more then that in coupons so it should not be hard at all even on the tight budget we are on). By the time December 31,2013 gets here I will have $1040 in the savings account. I know that might be even tighter for some of you but if you can not do $20 a week start smaller at what is comfortable for your budget and work your way up.
It is always better to have some savings then none at all, and that is our goal this year to build our savings account back up so that if we ever have the situation we did in 2010 when hubby lost his job again we will know that we can survive.
