It is no secret that I am that mom who gets down and messy with her kids. My friends have always thought I was a bit crazy because I would let and encourage my kids to make messes when they were little. When they were toddlers I would let them paint in the bathtub with pudding. I would wash the tub out so there was no soap scum or dirt and let them paint away in the bathtub with pudding. Even better was that if they ate it, it was no big deal because it was pudding!
I have continued this way of thinking even as my kids have gotten older. Yes the messes have gotten bigger as they have gotten older, but I firmly believe that it helps with my kids creativity. When the opportunity to partner with swiffer and spread the #YesToTheMess message I was excited because it falls right in line with how I have done things with my kids. Of course as my kids have gotten older, the messes have gotten bigger but they also are able to help participate in the clean up! You should see some of the messes that happen when I let the kids start experimenting in the kitchen making recipes with me ๐
Baking and cooking has always been something that the kids and I enjoy doing together to make a mess. There is a sweet treat at the end of making the mess and cleaning it up ๐
The best way to make a mess when baking a cake is to add food coloring! I let each kid dye their portion of the cake in whatever color they wanted to! It can get quite messy when they all want to make sure their cake has “enough color”.
We like to change up our cakes, and make them swirled. We used 3 cake pans (and one box of cake mix) to make each kid have their own cake to decorate!
Once our cakes baked it was time to keep the fun and mess going on!
FROSTING!!!!!
I let the kids pick what colors they wanted to use when decorating their cakes, and we even added some sprinkles too!
I think the kids cakes turned out beautiful, nice and sugary and covered with frosting and sprinkles! McKenzie as you can see is waiting for spring and trying to push it along ๐

Then it was clean up time, Alyssa LOVES to clean and she was quite excited for the goodies that we got in the Swiffer box ๐

Swiffer makes clean up easy after we have had fun making a big mess!
- Swiffer Duster: With Dust Lock Adhesive,โข and 50 percent more fibers than regularย dusters, this dusterโs amazing all-around design cleans deep into grooves to trap and lockย up to 3X more dust than a feather duster.
- Swiffer Sweeper: A 2-in-1 hard surface sweeping and mopping tool. The dry cloth hasย deep ridges and grooves that conform to the surface of your floor to trap and lock dirt,ย dust and hair, while the wet cloth dissolves dirt and grime and traps it away, giving youย an amazing clean.
- ย Swiffer Wet Jet: All-in-one system that cleans floors thoroughly using cleaningย solutions specially formulated to break up and dissolve tough messes.
What is also important to me is helping other moms, I was excited that Swiffer sent me a box to share with a Mom friend. I was able to give my mom friend the box to help her clean up the messes that her kiddos make! I love being able to spread the love and fun with my mom friends ๐ Now she can have her kids make messes and not have to worry about the clean up!
What ways do you make it fun for the kids when saying Yes to the Mess?
Plus I get to make one MidgetMomma reader excited for mess with their own swiffer cleaning products ๐

The best part about making a mess with the kids is the memories that go along with the mess. Those are the moments you’ll talk about with the kids when they’re in their 30s.

I think part of the fun of making a cake with your child is the mess. You relax a little because you know it will not be as if you do it yourself and it’s a lot more fun.

My kids are grown but I have grandkids that love making messes with me. We are making cakes, cupcakes, cookies all the time and what is great is they are just down the road. I love helping them create a birthday cake for mom or dad. Both have an awesome creative streak with everything.
Heather lawrence says
I don’t mind messes so much…it’s how they learn and how they grow and honestly I am just going to enjoy spending the time with them. They are only little for so long and then you blink and they are grown!
Robin Masshole Mommy says
I am not a fan of messes, but with kids they are inevitable. I would be LOST without my Swiffer.

While messes aren’t fun for adults they really are great for kids to explore and try new things. It’s great that swiffer makes messes less stressful!

The pudding in the tub is a great idea and so is the spring cakes. Swiffer products come in handy for any type of messes the kids make. I do love the Swiffer Dusters as well as the Swiffer Sweeper.

I love the Swiffer products. My father owns a few of them. I remember using them when I was younger too. The wet jet was one of my favorites. It really worked well at cleaning up messes.
Kelli @ 3 Boys and a Dog says
That looked like so much fun! And there is nothing wrong with letting them make messes! No good memories were ever made by staying clean and pristine! And they helped clean up at the end, thats a Hi5 mom!

I always let my kids make a mess and it gave me a chance to teach them to clean in fun ways. Now, I do the same with my grand kids. Swiffer is a family member here lol.

I don’t have kids, and I am not into ‘mess’ so I take my nieces and nephews OUT when it’s my turn to watch them, tucker them out good so they come home and go to bed and then I don’t have a mess in my house! LOL ๐
