Learning and fun can go hand in hand very well if you have the right tools. While for some it maybe drawing and coloring to teach a child colors or writing numbers to teach them numbers my kids seem to have the “it thing” for technology and they seem to “get it” and know how to use it with in just a few minutes of whatever electronic device they get their hands on. Which has its pros and cons but with that I think it is important for them to know how to use technology the right way, to have fun and to learn at the same time!
With three kids in a semi-broad age range finding something that is age appropriate that they all can enjoy can be a challenge. Many times I run into the issue of it being “to young” or “to old” for one of the kids and then either the youngest is mad because she can not play it or the oldest is mad because “I got yet another baby toy”. The Innotab 2S works universally in our house. There are apps and games that are age appropriate for all three of my kids and all of them are happy. Now you may run into the “boy color” and “girl colors” thing in your house if your kids are like mine but that is easy solved by getting a skin 🙂
The many different games and apps that you can purchase and download for it make this one item a perfect fit for our house and any house that has an age gap like we do. All three of them had something that was just theirs but all in the same electronic device which is a major plus for me (although it does not stop the fighting of who gets to play with it first 😉 ).
With the Innotab 2S my kids got the hang of using it faster then I did, and while they loved it from the start they did not realize that while having fun with it they were also learning. The games they were playing were enjoyable for them and they were learning at the same time! That is a win win in my book!
Setting up the Innotab 2S was easy, as soon as I took it out of the box I was able to use the USB cord to connect it to my computer and put what games and apps on it that I wanted to. A BIG plus for me is that the kids can not purchase apps themselves, they can make a wishlist for what they want and then I can pick what to purchase. How many of you have had a phone bill or amazon order come through after your kids played with your phone or tablet for an app they wanted and purchased? This totally solves that issue! Once I set up the account each child is able to make their own profile complete with their own picture so even my 2 year old who can not read sees her picture and knows that is her account to use for her stuff!
The Innotab 2S can be used with batteries or you can purchase the charger separately (which I highly recommend!). There is also a car adapter you can get for when you are traveling and if you don’t want to hear the sounds as you are in the car you can get some kid headphones that will work great for keeping the noise level down.
