I don’t know about you, but I remember the Little Rascals from when I was a kid. Sure I am not old enough to have seen them when they originally aired, but the re-runs were all over the place. The black and white adventures of these kids would always bring a smile to my young face. Maybe it was because being a kid I could relate to some of the silly adventures and the trouble they would get in. Ah the memories. So when I was given the chance to review The Little Rascals Save the Day, a new Little Rascals adventure, a smile came over my face. This was a chance to relive those great adventures that I remember from my childhood. So let’s go see what this movie is all about….
If you don’t know who The Little Rascals are let me introduce you to them. There is Spanky (the leader or so it is portrayed that way), Alfalfa ( a favorite of many), Darla, Buckwheat, Petey the Dog, and a few others that their names escape me at the moment. The ones I listed are the ones you will want to pay attention to though. The plot in the movie is quite simple. The Little Rascals grandmother owns a bakery and has for years. She is over due on her loan from the bank. The bank tells her that if she doesn’t come up with $10,000 by the end of the month, her bakery will have to be sold. The Little Rascals want to devise a plan to save the bakery and raise the money. But before they can do that, a man and his child walk into the bakery and offer to buy the bakery for an insane amount of money. This child is named Waldo (the main “bad guy” of the movie) and the man is his Dad. They want to make the bakery into a mall. Grandma says no and they walk out thinking it doesn’t matter as she will never earn the money. Now back to the Little Rascals and their plan. They decide some pretty creative ways to raise the money. The hi-jinks will ensue when they make these ideas reality. Will they be able to raise the money and save Grandma’s bakery? That is the question you will have to answer for yourself.
The actors which portray The Little Rascals are great. It is almost like they came from the original. You feel like nothing has changed from the previous show. The Little Rascals Save the Day is a great movie, especially for kids. For adults it may get a bit dry at times. But I can tell you for a fact that my kids were glued to the TV for the entire movie. You will laugh and maybe even shed a tear while watching. You do get some great bonus features which include the gag reel. This is great and a must watch. There are a few more bonus features that you can also check out for yourself. The kids will love The Little Rascals Save the Day. They may even see themselves in some of the characters. I do recommend this movie especially for kids. A fun family movie night for sure.
