After much tossing and turning, restless nights, stressful days of picking between living in New Jersey or living in the Poconos we have made our a choice. It was the hardest choice I have ever been faced in my life. Neither option had a bad side to it that was not the positive for the other one. Family is very important to me and my kids having a relationship with my parents is one of the most important relationships I want my kids to have. Granted living in New Jersey for the past 9 years (with the exception of the 1 year we lived back in PA) the kids have seen my parents as much as possible, they have spent weekends with them, gone up for day trips and my parents have come here but with the lack of Tom’s parents in their lives it is even more important that they have a very close relationship with my parents. And so we are packing up our things and going back to the Poconos.
I love New Jersey and I am sad to go. Growing up New Jersey is where I wanted to live and I just love everything about here but the choice had to be made in the best interest of the kids. Something that as a parent is just what you do, give up things to make your kids lives better.
I am sad to leave the friends we have here who are more then friends, they are family and have been by our side this whole time. Friends who I know will be life time friends and who are just a short drive away. With many of our friends all across the country from Tom being in the military not having friends right next door is something we are used to, but we do have friends in the poconos and the kids will make friends at their new school and most importantly they will get to have my parents, their grandparents be an even bigger part of their lives. The school concerts, the sports games, after school activities will all be things that they will now get to share with my parents. The tears of when we have to go back home will be no more since we will only be about 15 minutes from my parents house.
The kids will now have their own rooms (which they are excited for), they will have a yard that is big enough for them to run around, they will be able to explore nature in their own backyard and travel to other places because we will be having to make the trips to see our friends.
This choice didn’t come lightly, to be honest I am still not 100% loving the idea but i know it is what is BEST for my kids, and that is what is the most important thing to me, giving them the best that Tom and I can!
Don’t worry I will keep you all in the loop as for the house, the move and of course things like the kids first days at their new school 🙂
