The other night my oldest daughter and I had the opportunity to go to an advanced screening of Mirror Mirror and so we had a mommy daughter date, including going out to dinner just the 2 of us.
A fun and new twist on the Snow White story, told from the Queen’s point of view, well sort of I should say. Snow White (played by Lilly Collins) lives (held hostage would be a better word) with the Queen (played by Julia Roberts) in the castle, who rules her stolen Kingdom ruthlessly and has taken away all the joy the kingdom once had when its rightful family ruled.
Snow White joins forces with 7 Dwarfs (not to be confused with the Dwarfs in the Disney movie, as they have different names and a bit more attitude 🙂 ), to reclaim what is rightfully hers, her Kingdom. With a prince who falls in love, then is put under a spell and then changes sides this movie has a great romantic theme as well. Surprising twists of such things like “puppy love” and a Beast in the forest, along with humorous comments and an adventure makes this movie a great one for an afternoon date with the kiddos or a night out with your significant other.
My daughter is 7 and I was a little bit worried about it being to much for her to handle, but after seeing it I am glad I brought her with me because she really enjoyed it to. There are some slight adult comments, however being 7 years old she had no idea what they meant and did not realize what was being said in the adult way and the violent parts had no blood or gore so it was great to get the message across with out any of the “yuck” parts.
Mirror Mirror comes to theaters on March 30, 2012! Check out the clip below to get a sneak peek of the movie 🙂
Don’t forget we also have a Mirror Mirror Prize Pack Giveaway going on that ends on April 1, 2012!
