What to Pack in your Carry On
There is a reason why there are carry-on must-haves when flying…flying stressful! When we fly, we want to have pack certain things in your carry on to make it easier. For some, flying is a piece of cake. For others, it can be absolutely terrifying. These must-have items can help to reduce the stress for some and at least make things more convenient for those that are not intimidated. If you have ever wondered about what you simply must have when you get on a plane, here is a convenient list of what to pack in your carry on:
There are many different types of travel pillows to choose from. Inflatable pillows are ideal for anyone who travels in first or business class because they are slightly bigger. If you choose a window seat in coach, you should still have enough room to use these pillows. Other pillows fit around your neck so you can rest comfortably without hurting your neck. Some travel pillows even come with a handy strap that lets you attach them to the strap of your carry-on bag to conserve space. Regardless, you need a pillow to rest your weary head in flight.
For some, rest is essential when you get on a plane. A crying baby or extremely loud riding partner can play havoc with those plans. Earplugs can help to eliminate unwanted noise from those types of sources. Earplugs are also ideal for blocking out the ambient noise of the plane if that sort of thing bothers you.
The days of airlines serving meals and free (filling) snacks are gone. If you want more than the standard peanuts or Biscoff cookies, you might end up paying $5 for a bag of candy or potato chips. Bring your own snacks with you in your carry-on so you can eat something substantial while in the air. Remember, if your flight gets stuck on the runway, there won’t be any food service. Those snacks in your bag will come in handy. Chewing gum should also be packed in with your snacks. Gum prevents your ears from popping and can freshen your breath after breathing in that stale cabin air while in-flight.
You might want to get a bit of sleep on your flight. If you are flying during the day or flying next to someone using a reading light, it might be hard to fall asleep. A sleeping mask can block out the light and let you get a solid few hours of rest before you land.
Hand Sanitizer and Wipes
Even after washing your hands in the plane’s bathroom, you might feel a little less than clean. Having hand sanitizer in your carry-on keeps your hands extra clean. Sanitizing wipes are ideal for cleaning off your tray table before you decide to eat a snack. These wipes can also be used to clean off the armrests, headphones, and any other surface you might need to touch.
A Shawl or Travel Blanket
It can get cold on the plane. Having a shawl or travel blanket keeps you toasty and comfortable when there is a chill in the cabin. It can also be used as a pillow if you forgot your travel pillow at home. Fold it up to give your tired feet a cushy place to rest until you land.
Carry-on must-haves when flying take the stress and discomfort out of flying. Before you head to the airport, make sure you have these essentials packed with you for your trip.
