Rainbow Cereal Necklace | Easy Kids Educational Activity
This year for St.Patricks Day I had the fun of making these necklaces with my two year old daughter and my five year old niece. This craft was great for both age groups. Now that my daughter is getting older I am starting to move away from the foot print crafts. I am now trying to find fun but educational crafts for her to do.
This craft is great because i was able to have the girls sort out all the cereal by color, which helps them learn their colors. Than it was a great motor skill test with threading the yarn through the center of the cereal. If the kids can count you can have them make patterns and tell them to put x amount of one color and then x amount of another color to form a pattern!
Then they have a tasty snack at the end of it!

Rainbow Cereal Necklace | Easy Kids Activity Directions
Sort out the cereal by color into your bowls or cups, have the kids do this part to help teach them their colors. Save the mess by putting it in a large bowl first.
Then while the kids are sorting cut your yarn longer than you would like it to be so you can tie it. Tie a large knot at one end of the yarn so the cereal doesn’t fall off.
Tape a small piece of tape around the other edge of the yarn to make it easier to get the cereal on it. Have the kids place six pieces each of the cereals in order of a rainbow, or any other pattern you want them to do.
Tie the necklace around the neck of your child. They can have fun and just wear it or let them enjoy a fun snack!

Sweet… sometimes you need something simple to do on a rainy day.

My normally rambunctious 3 yr old sat and strung cereal for an hour! Even the almost 2 yr old figured it out. I was very impressed and will keep this in the cupboard for our next rainy day!

I know it was amazing with my son and he took it in the car for his snack and he was so quite!
