When it comes to saving money on your grocery bill, it is advisable that you use a crockpot. This amazing kitchen appliance helps to stretch your food dollars as it enables you to buy cheaper cuts of meat, and tenderize them by cooking them for many hours. 1. Cook in Larger Quantities–
Utilizing a crockpot to cook your meals will enable you to cook in larger quantities. This will reduce the need to cook everyday, and reduce some of the cost on your utility bill. By using a crockpot, you will spend less time on cleanup as there will be fewer dishes to wash as well.
2. Choose Cheaper Cuts of Meat-
You will save some money on the cost of your grocery bill, as you will be able to buy meat that is less expensive. Trim some of the excess fat from the cheaper cuts of meat, and cook them for several hours in the slow cooker to tenderize them.
3. Use Leftover Vegetables-
Crockpot cooking allows you to use up any leftover vegetables that you may have lying around in your refrigerator. Last night’s corn, peas, or even carrots, can be tossed inside the crockpot during the last five minutes of cooking to use them up.
4. Use Less Spices-
With crockpot cooking less is more. This means that less spices will be needed as whichever you have in the crockpot will be able to enhance the flavor of the food through its long hours of cooking. Vegetables will be incorporated into the meat to enhance its flavor, rather than to be full of spice and no other flavors.
5. Use Less Ingredients-
When you cook with a crockpot you will use less ingredients. This means that you will save money on your utility bill. Meat, potatoes, vegetables, and a little spice can go a long way. You could also cook rice in the crockpot and add some beans, and a little meat to the meal.
6. You won’t be tempted to order out last minute.
If you use your crockpot and get the meal going in the morning when things are less crazy in your house.
