I started writing this post a few weeks ago, when at the time as far as anyone knew the someone close to me had beaten cancer and a few weeks ago we learned otherwise and so writing this post was put on hold while I gathered my composure to write it. Which I am not sure if it helped much at all because writing this makes my heart break for anyone affected by cancer but it is important that we do all we can to support those who have cancer.
So now after a deep breathe here is my review.
I have nothing nice to say about Cancer, seriously cancer sucks, it is an AWFUL disease and it ruins people’s lives as they know it. 2 years ago one of my closest friends lost her dad to cancer, last year someone close to me had cancer (and thankfully beat it) and a little girl that is the best friend of one my friends daughters (shes 7) is battling cancer right now and another friend was just recently diagnosed with cancer and that is only a small fraction of those that are affected by cancer. Frankly the only thing I have to say about cancer is that it needs to go away and never show its ugly head again and if I had a magic wand I would do just that, but I am sad to say I don’t have a magic wand and I can not do that, and none of us can. But we can do a part to help those who have cancer, support them and their families, and donate money to help cancer research.
I was recently introduced to the Moxie Girls True Hope Dolls and think they are absolutely fantastic! When the doll arrived to our house it sparked a great educational conversation with my kids on what cancer is and how it affects people. It was a conversation that I think really had an impact on my oldest daughter. The True Hope Dolls were made by MGA to support cancer research but you know what I like most of all about them? That they have no hair! When people who have cancer get treatments one of the side affects is they lose their hair. The fact that there is a toy doll that has no hair just like a little girl who is fighting this awful disease would have no hair just like them I think is awesome! My daughter loves dolls that look like her and I personally think that these dolls would be a positive thing for a little girl who is fighting cancer, because she would have a doll that looks just like her! Don’t worry they did not forget about the boys that get cancer too, there are boy dolls that have no hair as well.
I love these dolls, I love the message they send that helps kids who are affected by cancer to know they have a doll that looks like them, I love that when you buy them you are helping cancer research and all and all I love that these dolls opened up an important conversation in our house with my kids about cancer and how it affects people. I think every house should have a conversation like that, as you never know who or when cancer is going to put its ugly and nasty hands on.
You can purchase the Moxie Girls True Hope Dolls online or in local retail stores.
Disclaimer: I received a Moxie Girls True Hope Doll to facilitate my review, and instead of a giveaway MGA sent a doll to to the little girl that I mentioned above. All opinions are 100% my own!
