When we moved into the house the front flower beds and the garden that is in the backyard were less then appealing. They were both areas of the house that we were like “when we look at buying this house we are going to change them” until we recently learned what these not so pretty on the eyes spots had in store.
The backyard garden has grapes! They are starting to bloom and in a few weeks we are going to have a TON of them – That will totally help out our produce budget because the kids can pound down a whole 2 pound bag of grapes in one sitting.
The front flower bed has Dill and Mint! – While they don’t look so pretty and I am going to move them to a different part of the house and change them out with flowers I am excited that they are there and I should be able to keep them regrowing each year!
The side of the house has a fig tree, its huge and they are starting to pop up too! Now I have never had figs, or used them in anything but with a tree that will be stocking us up on them I am sure going to figure out how to use them!
Surprises like this make me very happy – and has given me the motivation to try and plant some other things since the garden is quite large!
Here is to hoping I don’t kill anything I plant and we can have a garden filled with veggies this summer!
Are you planting anything this year?
