Living in the Pocono Mountains during the winter has its benefits as much as I am sick of the snow and the main benefit is that we have the ability to have a lot of winter time fun. Camelback Ski Mountain invited McKenzie and I to come to the mountain and check out the snow activities that they have and it made for a great birthday get away for her and I to spend some quality time together. Even though it meant a little bit of rushing home in the morning as a snowstorm was coming our way 🙂
When I was growing up here my favorite thing was snowboarding, it was the one thing I looked forward to every single year and when we moved up here it was on the must do list that I have the kids try. They have been going to ski club after school once a week and loving it.
Things to do in the Poconos | Winter Fun at Camelback
We started our trip at the ski slopes, both of us getting snowboards and getting ready to hit the slopes! We started off taking a lesson, it got her a little more learning time and me a quick refresher (since it had been about 8 years since I was on a snowboard, but it is just like a bike, you don’t forget). Then it was time for us to hit the slopes…
Seriously this girl has got it! It was only her second time on a snowboard and she sure wowed me with her abilities on the mountain!
Of course you can’t not get a jump shot, and when she jumped with her board attached to her feet and was over a foot off the ground this momma was in awe!
After our time snowboarding we headed on over to the mountain coaster. When we went this summer to Camelbeach waterpark Tom and the kids all went on the mountain coaster because the kids wanted dad to go and this time I got to experience the fun. I am not a fan of coasters but the mountain coasters is a blast!
From the mountain coaster we headed on over to snow tubing! If you are wondering if Camelback has thought of it all for wintertime fun, wonder no more because they sure have!
After snowtubing we headed to the Chateau at Camelback (their hotel) and got dressed to head to dinner! If you are visiting the Pocono area and need an amazing dinner restaurants Desaki is a MUST try! It is a hibachi and sushi restaurant that has amazing food and awesome entertainment! It was the perfect dinner after our fun filled busy day!
After dinner it hit me, this was my last day with McKenzie as a 9 year old and when we would wake up in the morning she would hit double digits! But our time at Camelback and then dinner was the perfect ending to her 9th year, it was a day of smiles, laughs, fun, snow, and it was perfect. It was the perfect day spent with my oldest being able to hang out just us and celebrate her!
Worn out for the day, while snuggling at the hotel we snapped this selfie, the perfect picture that shows just how our day was, tired from the day but with huge smiles on both of our faces.
