Tips for getting rid of Clutter
Over time your home can become cluttered with items that you are not going to use. In order to get rid of some of the clutter, you have to plan to do one room at a time. This clutter can be something as simple as newspapers, old school books, old toys, or other random things that you no longer have a use for.
It is a good idea to take some of the items that are family treasures and set them aside. Place these in a box for safe keeping. Go through the stuff that you longer want, and if it is broke, throw it out. If the stuff is good, make sure that you donate it to your local goodwill. There will be someone that needs or wants the item that you have donated.
You could also go through your kid’s clothing and if it is good condition, you could put it aside for a younger sibling. This is especially true if the item is a collectible item, a special toy, or a piece of clothing that has a special character.
How to get rid of Clutter
Many people become overwhelmed getting rid of the clutter. The idea is to take one area of the room at a time. Set a time limit for how long it takes you to clear an area. Once the time is up, give yourself a break and move onto something else. After a while you will see that the area is clear and you will feel better about it.
Another rule of thumb is to remember that everything has its place and there really is a place for everything. Once you get back into practice of putting everything back into its proper place, you will spend less time cleaning up the clutter. Teach others to put things back where they belong as well. This will help you to concentrate on other things.
After you have gotten rid of some of the clutter, make sure that you reward yourself, you deserve it!

I never thought to set a timer, that is a great idea. Otherwise the clutter becomes overwhelming.
