All year long I talk with the kids about how we can help others, they are with me when I am at the store and see something on sale and I pick it up so we have it to donate during the holiday season. They see the before and most of the time they do not end up seeing the end result of when we donate it and it actually helps someone. This year Tom and I have allowed the piles to pile up in the living room and my “office” so they can see it first hand that the piles are here and that they are going to help those in need. I think this year the kids have been able to grasp it more then other years and they have enjoyed getting involved this year with picking out gifts as well.
The holiday season is a great time to help the kids understand the importance of giving. There are many chances to help others, look for the wishing trees in stores, at your chruch and schools and pick a kid from the tree. Their wishlists are small and that small list being completed will make a child’s christmas. If your budget is tight you can find places where you can donate your time and help out, places like nursing homes are always looking for help.
Capital One is working on helping others as well. right now you can make Wish For Others and Capital One is working to help others too. Right now you can make a wish for someone you need who needs a wish and Capital One is granting wishes to help people give the ones they love the wish they want for their loved one.
If you have someone on your list who you would love to make a wish for, use Twitter and instagram and make a wish for them for the chance to have Capital One grant it using the #WishForOthers hastag. Make sure you also head on over to the Facebook page.
