So you know that when I shop my first stop is the clearance section, always. There are times it drives my kids a little crazy and they want to be able to pick out specific things to wear but we have come up with a great solution and compromise to that!
When I shop for my daughters clothes we always hit up the clearance section, which means many times the jeans are plain with no designs on them and the shirts are cute but there are never any of the matching hair bows left anymore (especially when we shop at Gymboree). My daughter’s favorite thing to add to her wardrobe is hair accessories and earrings. We are able to find really awesome accessories to spruce up any outfit that we find on sale! And doing it that way she has different stuff then all her friends which she really likes! We also splurge on shoes, (looking for the best price of course) but then she can get 2-3 pairs of shoes that will match any outfit she has. She loves her “Uggs” as she can wear them with her jeans or a skirt! She loves having accessories and dressing up her outfits! She has asked if for next summer we can take the pants that she out grows this year and make them into shorts and use fabric paint to design them, I am thinking that will be a great craft project next spring!
My son thankfully is a little more lenient with hit clothes he just likes to be comfortable! Him liking comfort makes shopping for him so much easier then my daughter. He is normally wearing jeans, shorts or running pants with sneakers (or sandals in the summer) He does not really care what is shoes are but he does like to have things with his favorite football team, the Eagles on it! We do his splurging on things like his Eagles Crocs and Eagles shirts and he loves it! At the end of the summer and right after the football season it is easy for me to make him happy!
I do think I may run into trouble though with the littlest one, as she gets older, even though she is only 18 months old she defiantly shows a preference to what she likes and does not like. I never had that with my older 2 until this year but I can see her being a hairbow and shoes girl like my daughter is, but wanting to wear more dresses then pants.
I love that my kids are able to be creative with what they have, and my daughter can dress up any outfit by adding shoes and accessories, that really helps when it comes to saving money buying clothes!
