I have had recent comments and questions asking why I do certain things or how things exactly work here, so I am going to answer them:)
Why did I start Blogging?
I started for myself actually, to hold myself and our family accountable for what we were spending with our groceries and personal care products. I have always looked for deals and sales and for a while in the beginning of our married life it was out of necessity that we did with out things, so that our daughter had not just what she needed but what she wanted as well. My husband joined the military and things were much better for us, and then we had our son and things were tight and I ended up working at a fast food joint where I dreaded going in to work each night, I missed family dinner time and quality time with my kids and husband and so I decided to take it a step farther then just using coupons for what we needed right then to stockpiling what was cheap. I started the blog keeping track of what we spent and what we saved. I then took a bit of a break for about a year posting randomly to go back to school, and we had our third child. During that time I missed blogging, and so as soon as I graduated back to blogging I went. So in May 2010 is when I choose to dive straight in and not look back.
Why I do giveaways and how I pick what to review and what not to.
I was very nervous to start doing reviews and giveaways, and honestly I was unsure about it at first. After reviewing a few things and realized that I really enjoyed telling people, other then those in my daily life about the cool things I was trying I decided to add reviews and giveaways to the blog as an on going thing. I do the giveaways as a way for me to share something that I enjoy. While every review I post is always a positive one, I will tell you that not every product I review is a good one, there are things that I have reviewed that have not made it to the blog. My reason behind it is that I want all of you to focus on the positives like I try to do in my life. I do not like to focus on the negative things in life and there have been quite a few times that I have turned a company asking me to review something because honestly I could not see anyone actually using the product and it would have taken away from the good things I can share with you. I enjoy sharing things that I enjoy with all of you and I do the giveaways so you all can enjoy them too. I know often the giveaways do not go along with the frugal way of life that my family lives but there are somethings that having the oppertunity to have one of you win because it does not go with being frugal I feel is taking away an oppertunity from you.
Why I do not post every deal
There are times that I do not post every deal I find, especially if I do not personally think it is a deal. I try not to put my price point on things that I share because I know everyone has a different price point for their buy price, but something at 10% off is not really a score for me and I would rather share with you something that is 75% off instead of that 10% off.
Why do we never see your children’s faces
I am still a bit on edge about putting my children and their faces online, eventually I am sure I will feel comfortable with it, but currently it still scares me to have my kids faces on the blog, which is also the same reason I use nicknames for them when I talk about them.
Do you really look for sales whenever you buy something?
For the most part yes we do, the one that is more relaxed about it is my husband, which after he has bought whatever it was at full price with in a few days I hear the same “Well I guess I should have waited” or “I could have gotten it a lot cheaper having you look first” speal. I figure eventually he will figure it out lol. But for the most part when we are looking for something our first stop is a clearance rack and then of course before we leave to go shopping we check for a coupon this way if we can not find what we are looking for on the clearance rack we are saving by using a coupon.
Do you splurge?
Yes we do and actually just the other night I wanted sushi and the kids and hubby wanted McDonalds and so thats what we had for dinner. We have found it is a few splurges like that a year help us stay on track with our focus of saving money. But because we save so much so often the spurges do not affect our budget.
Do you follow a strict budget?
Currently with hubby being unemployed and us awaiting what will be instore for us our budget does not allow much wiggle room, but we have set the budget up so we have money designated for things like splurges, clothing, family fun ect so that we have that money to do those things. We have always had a budget, the changes in it come when we change the amount of money that we can use as “free money”, however we do stretch our “free money” as far as we can no matter how much we have set in the budget. Just because we have a higher amount at one point does not mean that we do not still look how far we can spend it.
I will continue to answer the questions that you have all asked me, and if you have any questions for me please feel free to contact me:)
