  • Wash, peel and slice or chop the apples.
  • In a large bowl add the apples and the lemon juice and toss apples with the lemon juice and then set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, over medium heat add the cornstarch and the water. Using a whisk mix together until they are well combined.
  • Once the cornstarch and water are combined, add the sugar, cinnamon and the nutmeg to the pan and mix well.
  • Add the apples into the sauce pan and stir to coat them in the spices mixture.
  • Turn the heat to medium low and cook until tender, normally takes about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid the apple pie mixture from sticking to the pot. You may need to cook a little longer depending on your stove.
  • Remove the pie filling from the stove once the apples are tender and allow the apple pie mixture to cool before placing in a pie crust or putting in a jar.
