  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Melt the butter in the Microwave and allow to cool down a little bit. You don't want it hot, you just want it melted.
  • In a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer or the paddle attachment of your stand mixer, Cream together the butter and two sugars until smooth, 3-5 minutes is about what this will take.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add to the batter with the salt.
  • Stir in the flour, chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet, you can line the baking sheet with parchment paper if you want to.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven until edges are lightly browned.
