Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, eggs and milk until they are well combined. You want your batter to be thin enough for it to be pushed though the holes but not to thin that it is watery. If your dough is to thick just add a tablespoon of water at a time until its the right texture.
  • Fill a large pot full with water and add a pinch of salt to season the water. Bring the water up to a boil on high heat.
  • Get a large bowl and a colander, place the colander into the bowl and set aside.
  • Place another colander (or spaetzle maker) over the top of the pot of boiling water. Pour some of the spaetzle dough on top of the colander or spaetzle maker and using a rubber spoon push the spaetzle dough thru the holes so the dough falls into the boiling water.
  • Allow the spaetzle to cook for 2-3 minutes until they float, then using a draining spoon scoop them out and place them in the colander over the bowl so they drain.
  • Continue making spaetzle this way until all of the batter is gone.
