What is the best type of beef to use for this recipe?
There are a few different types of meat that you can use for this recipe. Since it is cooked in the slow cooker you can use a cheaper cut of beef and still end up with a tender broccoli beef stir fry recipe that the whole family will enjoy for dinner.
- Flank steak. Most popular choice. It’s lean, flavorful, and tender when sliced thinly against the grain.
- Skirt steak. Similar to flank but with a bit more fat and flavor. Also needs to be sliced thin across the grain.
- Sirloin steak. A bit more tender and forgiving. Good balance of flavor and tenderness.
- Ribeye (boneless). Very tender and rich, but more expensive and fatty.
- Boneless Chuck Roast. Budget-friendly and flavorful.
- Top round or chuck. Budget-friendly, but requires marinating to be tender enough for stir-frying.
Tips and Variations of this recipe
Always slice the beef thinly against the grain. When you are cutting the meat into slices, it is best to cut it against the grain.
Add more vegetables. If you would like to add additional vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, or snap peas, that would work too. Add them at the same time as the broccoli.Â
Use Frozen broccoli. You can use fresh broccoli or frozen broccoli when you are making this recipe.Â
Bright green broccoli. When cooking broccoli in the slow cooker it naturally will be less bright green, if you would like for your broccoli to hold its bright green color you can give it a quick blanch before adding it to the crock pot.

Ingredients to Freeze:
- Sliced raw beef (e.g., flank steak, sirloin, or marinated boneless chuck roast)

Do NOT Freeze:

How to Prep this recipe for meal prepping:
- Combine raw beef and sauce in a freezer-safe gallon-size zip-top bag or container.
