Casseroles are super easy meals to make for dinner. All you have to do is dump everything in a baking dish and bake it in the oven. One other great thing about casseroles is that many times they include items you already have on hand which helps from making more trips to the grocery store than we want to.

What is in Tuna Noodle Casserole?
This easy casserole recipe has pantry items that you probably already have on hand. All you need to make this tuna casserole recipe is pasta, canned tuna, vegetables, canned soup, black pepper, breadcrumbs, milk, and butter.
This easy casserole can be put together in about 10 minutes and then all you have to do is bake it in the oven.
What Can I Use Instead of Canned Tuna?
If you do not have canned tuna on hand you can also use canned salmon or canned chicken.
What can I substitute for peas in Tuna Noodle Casserole?
If you do not have peas on hand then you can switch out the peas for canned or frozen veggies including broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, mushrooms, asparagus, carrots, or even a bag of mixed vegetables.
Can Tuna Noodle Casserole be frozen?
Yes. I find that tuna noodle casserole is best frozen in a tinfoil pan. If I plan on freezing my easy tuna noodle casserole then I make it in the tinfoil pan, cover it with aluminum foil and then freeze it. This casserole will keep in the freezer for 5-6 months.
There are two ways to freeze this casserole. The first one is to prep everything up to the baking point with the exception of the breadcrumbs, and instead of baking the casserole top the baking dish with tin foil and put it in the freezer. When you defrost it to bake it later you will want to add the breadcrumbs before it goes into the oven.
If you are wanting to cook the dish and then freeze the leftovers you can do that too. Let the casserole cool completely then place the baking dish in the freezer for 3-4 hours. Once it is fully frozen remove the casserole from the baking dish as a whole and put it into a freezer bag. Zip the freezer bag closed and then store it in the freezer.
When you want to cook it from a frozen state you can do that one of 2 ways. Remove the casserole from the freezer the night before and let it thaw then bake for 30 minutes or so until it is warmed completely. If you are cooking it right from the freezer bake at 350 for 1 – 1.5 hours until warmed all the way thru.
Tuna Noodle Casserole Ingredients
- uncooked egg noodles
- canned tuna in water, drained
- green peas, canned or frozen
- cream of mushroom soup
- teaspoon pepper
- melted butter
- panko breadcrumbs
How to Make Tuna Noodle Casserole
Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Using a non-stick spray grease the inside of a 1.5-quart baking dish.
Bring a medium pot full of water to a boil. Add in the noodles and cook them 2 minutes shy of what the package says.
In a large bowl combine the tuna, peas, soup, and pepper together. Once the noodles are cooked drain them and add them to the mixture.
Pour the mixture into the baking dish that has been prepped with nonstick spray.
In a small bowl combine the butter and breadcrumbs together. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top of the noodles.
Bake for 25 minutes or until the bread crumbs are golden brown.
