Oreo Milkshake Recipe
I am a sucker for a milk shake. Really any flavor milkshake does the trick for me, however my absolute favorite is an Oreo Milkshake. Crunchy Oreo cookies chopped up in a smooth and creamy ice cream milkshake topped with some homemade whipped cream and a cherry! Ohh Yum!
During the summer months when it is hot and we have had a long day outside we like to enjoy a sweet treat after dinner and milkshakes are perfect!
During the chilly and cold months we still enjoy them just not as often because it is cold and we tend to have a lot of hot chocolate. But even if it is cold out this is the perfect easy dessert recipe to enjoy!

Variation of this Milkshake Recipe
If you want to get all fancy with this cookie milkshake recipe you totally can. I like to add a drizzle of chocolate fudge down the insides of my glass before pouring the milkshake into it.
When you are making these easy homemade milkshakes they taste amazing with whipped cream. You can use homemade whipped cream and a whipped cream dispenser or store bought whipped cream, whichever you prefer.
I like to top my Oreo Cookie Milkshake off with some whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. I totally feel like I am enjoying a milkshake in one of those fancy ice cream shops all while being at home.
Want to get even fancier? Top the milkshake with whipped cream with some shredded chocolate and add a fancy straw!
Want to make an Oreo Mint Milkshake? Add a few drops of mint extract or peppermint extract, or change out the vanilla ice cream for mint ice cream.
Want an Oreo Chocolate milkshake? Use chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla.
Trick to the BEST Oreo Milk Shake
The most important part of an Oreo milkshake is the ratio to creamy milkshake to crunchy Oreo cookies. After a long time of testing, which thankfully my kids were happy to do, we found the best Oreo cookies to ice cream ratio when making an Oreo Cookie milkshake.
Now the trick is to use the mini Oreos, not the full sized ones. The full sized Oreos had more cream then cookie and while that makes them perfect for chocolate covered Oreos and dipping them in milk, it doesn’t give the perfect ratio you want when making a milkshake.
Oreo Milkshake Ingredients
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- mini oreos
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Hot fudge or chocolate sauce (optional)
- Maraschino cherries (optional)
How to Make Oreo Milkshakes
I use my Ninja Blender when making my milkshakes, of you don’t have one I highly suggest getting one. It is the best blender I have used yet!
In your blender add milk and ice cream in blender and blend till creamy but still chunky.
Next add Oreos and blend till chopped up – you do not want them to be totally crunched up you want them to have some crisp to them still.
Drizzle fudge or chocolate sauce inside your glass and pour your milkshake in.
Top with whipped cream and a cherry.
